Problem
The Houston Lawyers Association has served Black lawyers, judges, and law students across greater Houston since 1955, and by 2026 its operations were split in two. The public website lived on Squarespace. Members, dues, and renewals lived in GoHighLevel. Attorney directory submissions came in through a website form. Moving off both meant carrying more than 1,100 member records across with their tiers and join dates intact.
Solution
We replaced both with one platform. Members join and pay dues online through Stripe, update their own details in a member portal, and sign up for events. Officers get an admin area with role-based access, where they can record offline payments, send invoices, merge duplicate member records, and edit the site's emails. Built on Next.js, Sanity, Clerk, and Stripe on Cloudflare Workers.

Results
The new site went live at houstonlawyersassociation.org on October 7, 2026, with the domain moved and the association's email left intact. The old member portal now sends people straight to the new join page, and payments made through the old system were reconciled into the new one.
